Store-bought jello is gelatin made from the bones and other parts of conventional animals. It is full of whatever toxins the cows ate or were injected with during their lives. It is also full of refined sugars, artificial flavors and colors, preservatives and other nasty non-food additives.
Jello’s still yummy and fun to eat so we make our own with grass-fed gelatin and our favorite organic juices! Grass-fed gelatin comes from organically raised, pastured animals that are not given hormones or antibiotics. They are certified to be free of disease and healthy.
Adding gelatin to your diet is beneficial to your gut. It soothes and can even help heal the intestinal lining of those suffering from food allergies and leaky gut. It is wonderful for the hair, skin, nails, teeth and bones and is a great source of protein.

We’ve been experimenting with different juices to see which ones we like the best. We tried organic mango-lemonade. It was good but needed a little honey to sweeten it. We’ve also tried organic limeade and really liked that flavor! You can make jello with any liquid you want! You can also make your own healthy fruit juices by blending fresh fruit in your blender or juicing. This is the best option! Fresh is always best!
What You’ll Need:
Healthy Homemade Jello
- 1 TBS grass-fed gelatin per cup of liquid
- Liquid (juice) of choice
- Sweetener, if desired – raw honey, maple syrup, coconut sugar, stevia, or sucanat.
- In a small saucepan, mix gelatin with at least a half cup of the liquid to dissolve. (If you are using room temperature liquid you do not need to heat it. If the liquid is cold, you will need to warm it on the stove before adding gelatin.)
- Once dissolved, add gelatin mixture to remaining liquid and stir.
- Pour into jars, containers or molds.
- Cover, place in refrigerator and let set for a few hours.
- Remove molds or eat right from the jar.
